bounce wins multiple national addys for thomas creek and gla
Single largest national ADDY win in South Carolina history
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) has announced that the bounce agency of Greenville, S.C. won four national ADDY Awards this year -- the most ever for a South Carolina advertising agency – and more than any other agency in the Carolinas and Virginia. bounce won three Gold ADDYs and one silver ADDY in the annual AAF competition, which is the biggest and one of the most competitive advertising competitions in the world.
"This is great news for us, and for South Carolina's entire ad community," says bounce President and Creative Director John McDermott. "At this level of competition, you're up against the very best work from the very best agencies in the country. To earn four awards, including three Golds? That's a strong performance by anyone's standards."
bounce won a Gold ADDY for a campaign titled "Campaign to Sink the Status Quo," which it created for Thomas Creek Brewery. The agency also won two Gold ADDYs and a Silver ADDY for the "Have Any Books Lying Around?" campaign produced last year for the Greenville Literacy Association's Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale. Never before has an agency from South Carolina received more than one national Gold ADDY in a given year, nor as many total ADDYs.
More than 60,000 entries were submitted to the national ADDY Awards this year. The AAF is divided into 15 districts around the country and South Carolina is in the Third District. Among Third District national ADDY winners, bounce was the only agency to win Gold. Gary Gilmore, AAF Third District Governor, said, "This is an impressive achievement. The ADDYs are the largest creative competition in the country and one of the toughest in the advertising industry. As a highly deserving winner of four awards, and the only Gold award winner in Third District, the bounce agency has added a new level of credibility to our AAF district and to the Greenville advertising community." The winning work was:
- "Campaign to Sink the Status Quo" Thomas Creek Brewery Gold ADDY Award
- Post-It Note Book Jackets Greenville Literacy Association Gold ADDY Award
- "Have Any Books Lying Around?" Greenville Literacy Association Gold ADDY Award
- Parking Garage Book Shelf Greenville Literacy Association Silver ADDY Award

The "Have Any Books Lying Around?" campaign also achieved outstanding results at two other prestigious, global advertising competitions recently. It won a Silver World Medal at the New York Festivals and was a semi-finalist at The One Show.
Agencies from around the world compete in both of these competitions, and judging is performed by some of the most influential creative directors in the advertising industry.
bounce Chairman and CEO Carlos Jimenez said, "Several years ago we set out on a mission to consistently produce the kind of great creative that would make us one of the very best agencies in the Southeast. These awards prove what I've always known … that we're capable of competing against the very best agencies in the country."
The AAF will present the awards at its annual awards ceremony in Atlanta on June 10, and it is possible that bounce could receive a Best of Show award for its winning entries.
